With two lightning delays from passing storms, an estimated 50,000 fans remained charged when Lynyrd Skynyrd’s familiar guitar riffs shocked the crowd about 10:30 p.m. The band that formed in Jacksonville nearly 50 – years ago headlined the show, taking the stage for what they claim will be their last hometown concert.

Through the set of classics everyone in the crowd seemed to know by heart, Johnny Van Zant remembered and honored band members lost over the years, from his older brother, original lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, to Ed King, a guitarist who died just two weeks prior.
Quality Event Flooring Solutions was chosen to provide the field protection for this historic Farewell Tour, which was the first major concert at Jacksonville’s TIAA Stadium since 2015. In order to protect as much natural grass as possible while providing access for cranes and forklifts, 80,000 sqft of Supa-Trac turf protection and 8,000 square feet of I-Trac drivable flooring was used, with excellent results.

According to Quality Event Supervisor Jack Houston, “Live Nation was very happy with the performance of I-Trac and Supa-Trac, and impressed with install and strike timeframes. The turf crew for the stadium was super happy with the Supa-Trac, and they couldn’t believe how good the natural turf looked after removal.”

Live Nation had 2 distinct flooring challenges with The Eagles & Jimmy Buffet in Florida. In Orlando, Camping World Stadium’s artificial turf demanded a flat-back product that would protect the field while giving the production team maximum access and mobility. In Miami, the combination of natural grass and planned events immediately following the concert meant that the field needed to look the best it could – even after being driven and walked on in Florida’s rainy / hot conditions. Quality Event Flooring rose to the occasion with our industry-leading I-Trac and Supa-Trac drivable flooring.

Florida is famous for sunny 80+ degrees with torrential downpours – happening within the same hour. Covering entire fields while dealing with changing conditions takes experience, and QEFS’s team of professionals was up to the challenge. QEFS laid down over 100,000 sq.ft. in each venue, working closely with the production, staging suppliers, and stadium management to make sure everyone’s needs were met in the most timely fashion possible.

When Solomon Group was tasked with producing concerts and other festivities in historic Centennial Park in downtown Atlanta, they required a temporary flooring product that could handle heavy vehicle traffic while protecting the pavement and lawn areas during the extended project timeframe. Atlanta’s winter weather can be quite varying from freezing temps with sleet and ice to hot and sunny within a day or so. Therefore, whatever flooring was laid down had to perform in extreme circumstances, which made QEFS’s I-Trac Drivable Flooring the perfect choice.

QEFS laid down over 40,000 sq.ft. in wintery conditions to support a PGP stage featuring 4 days and nights of concerts and events. This was the perfect application for I-Trac, as its unique form-factor and connection system prevents expansion and bubbling problems common to other types of plastic flooring typically deployed. I-Trac’s geometric shape offered a benefit in allowing the entire assembly to follow the contour of the rolling terrain/slope of the park surface with no issues.
